Looking For A Job In Scaffolding?

As the economy recovers there are still job shortages basically in every community. Searching for a job in scaffolding is a wise move at this time because the oil and gas drilling industry is still strong and is expected to get even stronger as the demand for fuel continues to rise. Entry level scaffolding positions start at $40,000 and accelerates to $60,000 gradually with promotions and experience.

Jobs in scaffolding require the ability to erect or repair safe scaffolding structures. When applying for scaffolding jobs it is good to have offshore scaffolding experience or training, but experience in land-based scaffolding can be substituted because except for offshore safety courses, they both require the same skills.

Scaffolding employment is essential for providing safe land-base and offshore work platforms. In addition, jobs in scaffolding produce handrails on buildings or industrial sites, and provide safe stages and seating for concerts, campaigns, or catwalks. Scaffolding jobs are transient positions. Employees go to different rigs or land-based installations when they are needed.

If you are interested in a job in scaffolding, the first thing you should do is take a survival course, then you should get a medical examination before you submit your resume to offshore companies. Scaffolding employees are required to pass a physical exam, be drug free, and take survival training. Safety courses are given on the job but it would be impressive to take a course in offshore survival or safety before applying for a scaffolding position.

It is very helpful to have relatives or friends recommend you for a scaffolding position, if this is possible. Offshore companies prefer to hire people who are known or related to the employees who are already a part of their staff. But don’t be discouraged if you don’t have friends or relatives working for an offshore company. You can still get hired by an offshore company if you submit your resume to different companies and do your follow-ups. Just remember to include in your resume that you are willing to accept any entry level position to get yourself in the door. After getting in the door, work hard and apply for a new scaffolding position when one becomes available.

Four major companies that have scaffolding openings periodically are The Kelly Group (217-420-1100), The KBR Company, (713-753-2000), EastCoast Rigging And Scaffolding (301-362-8801), and Calvert Masonry (571-292-5900).
